Namely, that creators on this side of the pond are borrowing entire shows from overseas to satisfy the ever-increasing demand for streaming content. This year, 2024, France has been the source of two major releases in N.A., namely High Potential (a clone of the French hit known as “HPI”) and now with THE AGENCY 2024, a clone of Le Bureau Des Legends (one of the most popular French TV shows of all time, running from 2015 to 2020). For example, many critics consider the new Western version of HPI, High Potential, to be a real improvement over the original. Based on the first episode of The Agency, this reviewer believes the show should at least hold its own with its iconic overseas counterpart.

The writing is sharp, and Fassbender—another A-level movie star transitioning to the small screen—rarely disappoints. We take it for granted that the main plot arcs will be adjusted to accommodate the ever-changing political environment. But for now, all is well. Recommended.
