It’s an interesting take on the underground bunker story of people who survived underground for so long that a civilization emerged within it, with stories, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies based on events that have been forgotten, and a status quo social structure is established. And when the status quo that maintains order is challenged, enforcement and punishment ensue. A power structure is formed that creates a stratified population both figuratively and literally from the top of the silo to the bottom. That’s the premise, and while it’s not entirely original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here to make it seem like a well-executed TV series. Good acting from Oyelowo, familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton. (But as you can tell from the show’s poster, they’re guest stars who give way to regular cast members, with Rebecca Ferguson in the lead role.) The show seems to be pretty decent, with good production values. There are intricate sets and good CGI to create a believable atmosphere. While the unsuspecting mind picks up on some obvious conspiracies early on, there are mysteries that are revealed that keep me watching.
