Nothing is what it seems when a twisted one-night stand turns into a vicious murder by a serial killer. Known primarily for its acting, this film is the directorial debut of Giovanni Ribis. Despite the female officers’ empathy for the woman, when patting her down and moving her to the car, none of the officers felt the firearm in their jacket. Lady: Love… doesn’t have to be something that evolves. The purist, primal genre can hit you like a wave… or overnight…

Wow What a memorable experience. Wow What a great story. Wow. I recommend going in knowing as little as possible, which makes the trip much more enjoyable. I usually roll my eyes when I see a movie needlessly divided into chapters.
Perfect order maximizes impact
In Strange Darling, the numbers actually serve a purpose. With this non-linear storytelling, the film constantly fascinates us. It gave me a Christopher Nolan vibe. I already knew Kyle Gallner, whose career continues to rise. He is always convincing and this might be his best performance yet. But Willa Fitzgerald…who is that?!?!? Best show I’ve seen all year.
But something about Strange Darling is so refreshing
He needs more lead roles as soon as possible. And with some long shots from these shows, it’s a great showcase of their talent. I regularly watch blockbusters and often enjoy studio films. It feels like real art, made by artists and tainted by the impurities of the studio. And yet, it doesn’t devolve into typical “high art,” Oscar-bait, style over substance; which critics love. It’s highly entertaining and rewatchable, with some striking moments. I had a lot of fun with this movie.

It’s currently my favorite movie of the year, and far better than the underwhelming Longlegs (a movie I still liked) or the pointless Cuckoo. (2 viewings, preview 14.8.2024, 4.9.2024). The last season of "What we do in the shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
