After recovering, the series returned to production
Plot
A retired CIA agent is haunted by both the agency he once worked for and his own nightmares, when an unknown man suddenly visits him after nearly three decades. Production was halted in March 2020 due to government restrictions. During that time, Jeff Bridges was diagnosed with and then treated for non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
The first two episodes are excellent
Bridges referred to the return as coming back after a “long weekend” on a podcast in July 2022. Featured on The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). So far, the casting is excellent in the series.
Amy brings it just as she did on HBO’s The Leftovers
The acting style is very well done by seasoned professionals Jeff Bridges is fantastic in The Old Man, as is John Lithgow. Amy Frederica Brenneman was what this show needs; an air of mystery to her character. His sense of vulnerability works so well with Jeff Bridges, even when Jeff wants to run away from there, he is drawn to Zoe McDonald, Amy’s character.
This is excellent television
There is real chemistry as the two actors complement each other. The Old Man has extremely intelligent writing that is supported by the talent of The Ensemble. This thriller goes in some intriguing directions, I am very excited to see how this series develops!
Can’t wait for the next episode!
